End Overdose

This year Overdose Awareness Day events will take place Aug. 27 at three northern Colorado locations in Estes Park, Fort Collins, and Greeley.

Events at the three locations will bring together community resource organizations, speakers, Naloxone distribution and education, music, food, activities, and shared stories of recovery and remembrance.

Local observances of Overdose Awareness Day will take place Saturday, Aug. 27 at:

Stanley Park, Osprey Pavilion
Estes Park
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Old Town Square
Fort Collins
1 – 3 p.m.

Lincoln Park

Activities will include overdose prevention and Naloxone training, community resources, food and music, yoga, and AcuDetox.

Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-2) is scheduled to make remarks at the Fort Collins location.

International Overdose Awareness Day began in 2001 in Australia as a campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind.

Northern Colorado Overdose Awareness Day events are being hosted by Premier sponsors Health District of Northern Larimer County, North Colorado Health Alliance (NCHA), and Colorado Opioid Synergy Larimer & Weld (CO-SLAW).

SummitStone Health Partners is a Champion sponsor. Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention and Unite Us are Advocate sponsors.

Additional event organization is provided by the Northern Colorado Harm Reduction Alliance and the Northern Colorado Collaborative for Addiction and Recovery.
