Dental care FAQs
Come as you are
Going to the dentist can feel stressful for a lot of people. Some worry about cost, insurance, anxiety or feeling judged about where they’re at with their health. That’s why we put a lot of value on a welcoming experience where you’re treated with kindness and respect.
You deserve high-quality dental care. You deserve to feel seen, informed and supported every step of the way.
What services do you provide?
Our dentists and hygienists provide comprehensive dental care. That means you can count on us for fillings, exams, cleanings, extractions, crowns, partials, dentures, sealants and root canals.
Who can receive care at the Family Dental Clinic? Are there any residency or boundary restrictions?
If you live in the district boundaries (Fort Collins, Timnath, Laporte, Wellington, Bellvue, Livermore, Red Feather Lakes, Virginia Dale and far west neighborhoods in Windsor), are without insurance or have Medicaid, and meet income guidelines, you can receive care here. Call us, and our care coordinators will help you understand what you qualify for.
Not sure if you live within Health District boundaries? Look up your address here.
What insurance plans does the clinic accept?
We accept Medicaid and CHP+. We also work with uninsured patients to make care affordable.
How does the sliding fee scale work?
While most people are eligible for emergency care, for comprehensive care, your sliding fee is determined by your household size and household income. Our care coordinators will help you through the process of determining costs.
How long does it take to get an appointment?
Focused exams and established-patient appointments are usually scheduled within one to two weeks. New-patient exams can take longer, but we don’t have a waitlist, and we’re hiring additional staff. We set aside appointments daily for emergencies, so we can see you the same day or the next.
How long are appointments?
They’re typically one hour but can vary depending on the procedure.
Can I get care if I have concerns about my paperwork?
We welcome everyone. If you have questions about paperwork, cost or available resources, we’re happy to talk through your options.
Is the clinic wheelchair accessible?
Yes. We have wheelchair-accessible treatment rooms and a wheelchair lift.
Are translation and interpretation services available for patients who don’t speak English?
Yes. We have translation and ASL services available to you at no cost.
What if transportation to or from appointments is an issue?
A Transfort bus stop is just down the street on Bristlecone Drive. If you have a disability that prevents you from using Transfort, Dial-A-Ride offers door-to-door transportation. You can also ask your insurance provider if transportation help is covered. If you drive yourself, plenty of parking is available in our lot.
What else can the Health District help with?
We care about your whole health, not just your teeth.
For extra help, we can easily connect you to other helpful services on our campus. That includes behavioral health services and health insurance guidance. Our patient care coordinators make connections easy across programs, with a warm, personal handoff. You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.
Are eligibility requirements the same across the Health District’s programs?
While they aren’t for now, we have dedicated folks who will explain eligibility for each program.
Larimer Health Connect (health insurance guidance) is free in Colorado. Some services within Mental Health Connections, which include CAYAC (Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Connections), are free. Fees for other services are based on your ability to pay. Other assistance may be available for those who qualify.
Our goal is to remove barriers to care, including cost.
