What is Mental Health Connections?
Mental Health Connections is one of the core services—for adults and youth—provided by the Health District.
- Connections (adult): supports individuals and families looking for help with concerns like depression, anxiety and stress before they grow into bigger problems.
- CAYAC (child, adolescent and young adult connections): provides early identification and treatment of behavioral health issues. This early support helps kids build core life skills, like managing emotions, coping with stress, communicating needs and forming health relationships. Our CAYAC team also works closely with area schools.
What services does Mental Health Connections provide?
- Brief psychotherapy
- Medication management for youth and young adult clients
- Care coordination
- Resource navigation services
- Mental-health-related referrals.
Once we’ve identified your needs, we’ll help connect you to local therapists, medication services, classes, support groups and other community resources.
Am I eligible for services?
If you live within our Health District boundaries in northern Larimer County, CO, our services are available to help you find relief and hope. Included within the district are the cities of Fort Collins, Timnath, Laporte, Wellington, Bellvue, Livermore, Red Feather Lakes, Virginia Dale and far west neighborhoods of Windsor.
Look up your address to see if you live within Health District boundaries here.
But what about cost?
Everyone, regardless of background or status, deserves support without barriers like cost. If you have a low income, you might be eligible for sliding-fee-scale or reduced-cost behavioral health support.
Can you help with insurance, food or other needs that might be affecting my mental health?
Yes. In addition to one of the Health District’s core services, Larimer Health Connect, which provides health coverage guidance, we can connect you to all types of community services designed to walk you through the issues you’re facing.
How long does it take to get an appointment?
It depends. Therapy appointments typically take 1–2 weeks. You can meet with a care coordinator within 1–3 days. Psychiatric (medication) appointments can depend on your referral, which might mean three weeks if the provider needs to see you in person. Neuropsychology evaluation appointments tend to take 2.5 months.
Do you have accommodations for disabilities?
Yes. Call us so we can discuss your individual situation at 970-224-5209.
Do you have translation services?
Yes, the Health District is committed to ensuring that all patients and clients, regardless of the language they use to communicate, have meaningful access to our services for free. If you need interpretation services or translated materials, please let us know.
What if I’m nervous about reaching out for help?
Many people feel anxious, embarrassed or unsure before making an appointment. That’s completely normal. Our Connections and CAYAC teams will meet you where you are, treat you with the respect you deserve and help you understand your options. Just call. We’ll take it from there.
