Health insurance deadline extended to Aug. 15

People who are currently uninsured have a limited-time opportunity to sign up for a Connect for Health Colorado marketplace health plan, even if they missed last month’s open enrollment deadline.  Larimer Health Connect is ready to help them find the best options for health insurance that meets their family’s needs and budget.

Colorado is offering a special Uninsured Enrollment Period Feb. 8 – Aug. 15 to help those who are currently uninsured or may have lost their health insurance due to COVID-19.

It began a week earlier than a similar special enrollment period offered by the federal health insurance exchange.

A free service of the Health District of Northern Larimer County, Larimer Health Connects offers virtual and limited, in-person appointments where knowledgeable Health Coverage Specialists help people understand how health insurance works; sort through their options; find out if they are eligible for financial assistance; assist with enrollment; and understand their new coverage.

Appointments are currently offered by phone or video chat due to COVID-19. Limited, in-person appointments are available at Larimer Health Connect’s Old Town Fort Collins office for those without a computer or internet access. All appointments are free.

“This is an incredible opportunity for people who are still uninsured. We can help them find options for health insurance that meets their needs and budget,” says Rosie Duran, program coordinator for Larimer Health Connect.

Larimer Health Connect can also help qualifying individuals sign up for Health First Colorado (Medicaid) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) all year. Health Coverage Specialists can also help people sign up for a marketplace plan, or change their current plan, any time during the year if they experience qualifying life change events, including loss of job-based coverage and certain family and income changes.
