  Every three years,  the Health District of Northern Larimer County conducts a community survey to assess the health status and healthcare needs of its residents. (district boundary map) The Health District's Board of Directors reviews survey findings and, where appropriate, makes changes to its Strategic Plan to meet those changing needs. The Strategic Plan guides the healthcare services the Health District provides.

The questionnaire asked residents about their perceived overall health and included questions about health habits, lifestyle factors, screening rates, health needs and insurance coverage. In 2004, 1,898 district residents returned usable surveys. For more details on how the survey was conducted, see link at left.

Certain health factors put people at risk for injury, disease and death. They include obesity, use of tobacco or alcohol, drinking and driving, seat-belt use, physical activity and dietary habits.
Data on how depression, other mental health problems and suicide affect our community. Included are trends as well as barriers to receiving care.
  • Health Insurance and Access to Healthcare Services
     
    Looks at number of uninsured, by income and by length of time without insurance. Also looks at access to healthcare for insured vs. uninsured. Also examines trends in access to regular source of care, to prescriptions and oral healthcare.

     

  • Physical Health and Health Status
     
    Includes trends for asthma, cholesterol and hypertension. Also reports trends on how residents perceive their current health.

 

 

This section looks at trends for clinical preventive screenings, comparing results to previous survey years as well as to Healthy People 2010 goals.
