HB 1145 Summary

Establishes a legislative oversight committee to examine 1) methamphetamine manufacture, distribution, and abuse; 2) programs for the prevention of, intervention in, and treatment of methamphetamine abuse; and 3) the response from the law enforcement and the criminal justice system.  The bill also creates a state methamphetamine task force to examine specific issues concerning best practices for the prevention, intervention and treatment of methamphetamine abuse.  The task force will provide guidance and recommendations to the oversight committee.  Funding for the committee and task force is dependent on gifts, grants or donations to the Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment of Methamphetamine Abuse cash fund that is created in the bill.  The task force is repealed in July of 2010.
