Family Dental Clinic relaxes financial eligibility guidelines

The Health District Family Dental Clinic has relaxed its financial eligibility requirements, making it easier for qualifying residents to get needed care.

Patients at the Family Dental Clinic pay sliding fees based on their household income. The clinic also accepts patients who have coverage through Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+).

Individuals and families with incomes up to 250 percent of the federal poverty level can now apply to become patients of the dental clinic if they live in the Health District (Larimer County north of Carpenter Road) and don’t have private dental insurance. In 2017, that works out to $30,150 for an individual, $40,600 for a couple, and $61,500 for a family of four. The previous income limit was 185 percent of the federal poverty level.

The change was approved earlier this year by the Health District board of directors and recently went into effect. It will enable the full-service clinic to serve more local residents who cannot afford dental care.

The Health District Family Dental Clinic offers a full range of dental services for adults and children, including cleanings, silver and tooth-colored fillings, full and partial dentures, extractions, and root canals. An appointment to determine eligibility is required to access the full range of services available.

For more information or to schedule an eligibility appointment, people can call the Health District Family Dental Clinic at 970-416-5331, Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Information is also available at healthdistrict.org/dental.
