| Fragile Assurances, Living Uninsured in
Colorado is an 11-minute documentary video intended to educate viewers about the
growing number of Colorado residents whose health is at risk because they are unable to
afford health insurance for themselves and their families. The video features true stories of working persons who are or have been uninsured and underinsured and interviews with healthcare experts, advocates, and policy makers involved in healthcare issues. Also presented in the video are important facts about health insurance and the economic realities that make this issue one that all citizens should care about. The goal is to change misconceptions and to encourage viewers to take an active role in creating a future where all Coloradans have access to quality, affordable healthcare. This video is intended to raise awareness about the problems faced by the uninsured and underinsured. It is also ideal viewing for policy makers, healthcare professionals, social service providers, and others who provide support to people dealing with problems caused by a lack of adequate health insurance. Because Fragile Assurances, Living Uninsured in Colorado is intended to stimulate thought and discussion, a facilitators guidebook is available. The guidebook contains discussion points, background information, state and national data, and additional resources. The video was produced by the Health District and Double Dog Productions in conjunction with the Colorado Medical Society Foundation and the Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved. |
