If you’re looking for help planning meals for your family, losing weight or learning more about food and nutrition, this collection of links will get you started.

This information from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute helps you assess your risk for weight-related health problems and provides realistic tools to help you select a weight management program that works for you.

This site, operated by the American Heart Association, offers tips on healthy eating, a searchable recipe database, tips for healthy eating when dining out and much, much more.

• Interactive Meal Planner — http://hp2010.nhlbihin.net/menuplanner/menu.cgi
This resource from the National Institutes of Health helps you plan meals while keeping tabs on calorie, fat and carbohydrate balance.

• Nutrition.Gov — www.nutrition.gov
This resource provides easy access to all online federal information about nutrition. Topics include healthy eating, physical activity and food safety.

• USDA Food and Nutrition Center — www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/consumersite/
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Consumer Corner contains information about the food and nutrition topics the public most frequently asks about.

• WebMD Diet and Nutrition Center — www.webmd.com
Visit the consumer area of WebMD and click on “Diet and Nutrition” (left side of page) to find recent articles about food and nutrition and to read the nutrition question-and-answer section. This site is updated frequently and you’ll even find recipes from the popular magazine Cooking Light.
