New local resource lists provider, class, health topic info
by polly anderson

Fort Collins residents looking for a CPR class, a referral to a local chiropractor or information about depression need look no farther than www.healthinfosource.com.

This new web site will provide Fort Collins area residents:
• Detailed information on all local healthcare providers
• Calendar listings of local health classes and events
• Links to select health information on the web

Although the provider listings are not yet complete, the site will eventually have information about nearly 1,000 local healthcare providers, from acupuncture clinics to registered dietitians and home healthcare agencies. Consumers and providers may search provider listings by location, provider specialty, languages spoken at the clinic and other criteria.
Getting listed on the site
Nonprofit, private, medical, allied, alternative and all health and human services organizations and practices in between are invited and encouraged to get listed on www.healthinfosource.com.

Getting listed takes about 15 minutes — you can do it yourself online or work with healthinfosource staff to create a detailed listing. To get started, call Karin Meyer at 224-5209 today!

Data collection is ongoing; physician listings will be added in the fall and nonphysician listings will be complete by the end of this summer.

Visit the site now for an overview of high blood pressure, tips for quitting smoking and more than 20 other health topics. Visitors also will find registration information about health classes and events offered by Poudre Valley Hospital, the Centennial Chapter of the American Red Cross and other local health class providers.

Be sure to check back on the site often as local providers are being added daily. Health classes change from week to week and additional health topics are under continuous development.

The web site is a project of the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment, Poudre Valley Health System, Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation and the Health District of Northern Larimer County.
