The Health District is governed by a five-member board of directors whose members serve staggered, four-year terms. Members are elected at-large from the community. Elections are held every two years in even-numbered years. Read more about the board of directors. Any eligible elector in the Health District may run for the board.

Information for voters

Who can vote in this election?

To vote for board members, a person must be an eligible elector in the district. An eligible elector is someone who is:

  • a registered voter living in the district: or
  • registered to vote in Colorado and who owns, or whose spouse or civil union partner owns, taxable real or personal property within the district, regardless of whether he or she lives in the district. See map of boundaries.

When is the election and where can I vote?

Election Day is Tuesday, May 6. Polls are open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. that day.

Can I vote by mail?

You can vote in this election by absentee ballot. You must specifically request an absentee ballot for the Health District Board of Directors Election by completing and submitting an Application for Absentee Ballot form. People who have registered with the Larimer County Clerk and Recorder to receive absentee ballots for regular November elections should not expect to automatically receive a ballot for this election.

If you requested an absentee ballot for a previous Health District Board of Directors Election, the Health District will automatically send you a ballot for this and future elections.

  • Request an application from Gail Bridger, designated election official for the Health District, by mail, email, or phone.
  • Clip and save the application printed in the spring issue of the Health District Compass newsletter that will be mailed to district residents in early April.

Applications for a mail-in ballot must be signed and returned to the Health District by Tuesday, April 29 to receive the ballot by mail. If a person wishes to pick up the ballot in person, they can return the application by 5 p.m., May 2. Applications can be returned to Gail Bridger by mail to 120 Bristlecone Dr., Fort Collins, CO 80524; by fax at (970) 221-7165; or by email (as a scanned attachment) at gbridger@healthdistrict.org. Your ballot must be received at the Health District by 7 p.m. on the day of the election in order to be counted.

How can I learn more about the candidates?

Profiles of candidates appear above and in the spring issue of Health District Compass mailed to district households in April. A televised candidates forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Larimer County is scheduled for Monday, April 21 at 7 p.m., in the Fort Collins City Council chambers, 300 LaPorte Avenue.
